A new year of internships!
CHRC is pleased to announce another year of Student Work Placement (SWP) internship subsidies for the Cultural sector! The SWP program supports cultural sector employers in hiring post-secondary students with wage subsidies of 50%-70% of the full wage cost to a maximum of $5,000-$7,000 per placement. The subsidy is available for placements as of April 1st, 2022.
With funding from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), CHRC is offering a new round of funding into 2022-2023 for students of all academic fields to gain work experience.
This year, CHRC is offering a maximum 50% wage subsidy (maximum $5,000) for eligible placements, and a maximum %70 wage subsidy (maximum $7,000) for students confirmed to be part of a priority group! To learn more about priority groups, click here.
Before applying: In short, the three key evaluation criteria are:
- The employer must be a (non-governmental) cultural sector establishment (profit or non-profit).
- The student must be enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution, must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with the laws and regulations of the province or territory in which they are employed, and the student must either be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person granted refugee protection under the law.
- The job description should be related to the student's field of study and thus enable the student to apply his/her knowledge and/or allow the student to develop skills for the labour market.
