A Report on the Talent 2 Lead Regional Gatherings
The Cultural Human Resources Council is pleased to announce the release of a report on the Talent 2 Lead regional gatherings, “A Report on T2L Regional Gatherings - Leadership in the Cultural Sector Today”. Funding for these gatherings and the report was generously provided by the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Metcalf Foundation.
Leading in the cultural sector includes both competently managing organizations and, at the same time, leading culture itself - making work, productions and projects that bring cultural expression and vitality to the economy and to communities. In this report, mid-career and senior cultural leaders explore key challenges they face, and suggest possible solutions to stewarding, sustaining and developing Canada’s cultural organizations.
T2L regional gatherings were held in Montreal, Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto with cultural leaders from across Canada in spring 2019. These gatherings probed the practices that Canada’s cultural organizations are—and aren’t—employing to ensure they are more inclusive when cultivating and hiring future leaders. Participants also shared their views on common human resource, economic and leadership challenges faced by cultural sector workers.
Over the past three years, T2L has engaged over 60 leaders to participate in a learning series of webinars on leadership and HR management topics, and has matched them to work one-on-one with executive mentors. T2L3 focused on supporting leaders from Indigenous, racialized and official language minority communities.
With the support of the Canada Council, the Cultural Human Resources Council is pleased to announce that it will be running a fourth year of the program. Talent 2 Lead 4 (T2L4) will be launched in early 2020. Please watch for our announcement in the new year and sign up as a subscriber on the T2L website talenttolead.ca to receive more information.
